Skin tighteners, coloring, perfumes, drugs, that affected those around them.
Everything she needed to create rulership of her personal Kosmos “order”.

In order to bring others under her power, to get others to worship her.

Kosmetics effect that change to her Kosmos, her order.

Sounds like a dramatic way to characterize something mundane we take for granted...

...until you consider these were oracular priestesses, preparing an initiate for ‘the rite’ that she is leading. Beauty is a large component of harmony. Harmony was the goal of the rite, to order (or harmonize) the initiate’s mind (psyche/soul), their inner Kosmos (ordering of their mind).
